April 17, 2012
National "Days of Remembrance" for the Holocaust are observed in Israel April 15 - 22. America began observing the disaster under President Carter and this year the date is April 18. The problem is, nobody wants to remember. The loonies want to claim it never happened -- or if it did, it was only to a few thousand as though that should make any difference. And don't wait for the church to acknowledge this. It's ancient history to them and besides, the church is the new Israel (Replacement Theology), or so they claim.
Here's what you should remember: There is something unprecedented about the European Holocaust. For the first time in the bloodstained history of the human race, a decision was birthed in a modern state, in the midst of a civilized continent, to track down, register, mark, isolate, dispossess, humiliate, concentrate, transport, and murder, every single person of an ethnic group as defined by the perpetrators -- and for purely ideological reasons.
This was targeted at an ethnic group who so generously contributed to the culture of the world; to a people who have borne the brunt of enmity towards them basically because they dared to be different and dared to insist on their difference.
On April 19 in Israel, all life will literally stand still for two minutes -- which seems like an eternity. Kids get off toys; rowdy teens settle down and stand to attention; drivers may get out of their cars and stand. All of this is in honor of the six million who perished under the raging lunatic who wanted the world to have only people with blond hair and blue eyes.
Don't think such madness is gone. Today the cry is for a Muslim caliphate around the world!
Someday a man is going to get his wish. His name is Antichrist and he actually will have a global kingdom. Frankly, I think that is on the horizon.
Anita Dittman
Here's how to find joy in the midst of Holocaust darkness -- or in your own trials and testings:
Read or view the true story of Anita Dittman and her mother -- Jewish believers during that era and survivors. At age 85, Anita is still spreading the good news contained in her story to thousands. I wrote her book, Trapped in Hitler's Hell, 30 years ago. It has changed lives all around the world. Don't let the title scare you. It is uplifting and faith building. Yes, she and her mother went through hell so that your ordeal could seem lighter in perspective. Whether they were under assault from reckless Nazis or their barbarian Russian liberators, Anita claimed Romans 8:28 -- that all things would work together for good so she could thank God. He was a miracle worker in her life and her mother's life from 1933 to 1945.
Included in the narration is her childhood and the sudden change from plenty to poverty as the Nazis take power; abuse from school friends who had been taught to mistrust Jews; the round-up of family members and then Anita; a work camp; the ride to the gas chamber; the escape; the reunion with her mother; the journey to America. She and her mother become Christians thanks to the kindness of a Confessional Lutheran Church in Breslau, Germany that intervened on behalf of persecuted Jews. Many of these pastors were also sent to camps and perished. Anita's pastor did not. He died in an accident in the 1960s.
Her testimony is also available on DVD.
Holocaust survivors alive now were only children during that era. Today we are losing one Holocaust survivor per hour. Also, too many stories were downers. Not this one! Anita's child and teen years really weren't stolen; rather, they were illustrations in endurance, faith, hope, and trust that will give you encouragement.
On air last weekend I shared the story of Irena Sendler.
Irena Sendler
She helped save Jewish children in Warsaw. She smuggled them past Nazis with a trained dog that would bark on command to cover up the crying. She had them hidden in a carrying case. She died in 2008 at age 98. In her last years, she was taken care of by a child she saved. Irena was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. She lost to Al Gore and his man-made global warming panic. Hard to understand what that has to do with peace!
Next weekend (April 21-22) I talk to Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn about his "Harbinger" phenomenon. Yes, it is a phenomenon. A debate rages around his work. Is it fiction or a word from God? Is this America's final warning? Tune in and you decide. See the radio info below for the best way for you to listen.
